I would present to you the SMOD Redux - Final, that can be run with Steam. This version does not require any SMOD Standalone files, it runs just like a regural mod. You just need to have Half-Life 2 with Source SDK Base 2006 to be installed in Steam and them must be run at least once. Just extract the archive to your "sourcemods" directory. Restart Steam. You will see "SMOD REDUX - Final" in your Library. Don't forget to change the language in Steam to English.
